France’s Clarisse Agbegnenou secures her sixth gold medal at the Judo World Championships – Doha 2023

France’s Clarisse Agbegnenou has cemented her status as one of the world's elite Judokas by winning her sixth World Championships title in Doha. With a Gold medal at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics already under her belt, Agbegnenou is now aiming to repeat her success at the Paris 2024 Olympics.

In front of an enthusiastic crowd, Tato Grigalashvili from Georgia put on an impressive performance and retained his World Champion title in the -81 kg category after a closely contested match against Matthias Casse of Belgium. Japan’s Takanori Nagase and Korea’s Joonhwan Lee both won Bronze medals.

In the -63 kg category, World Champion Clarisse Agbegnenou faced off against Slovenia's Andreja Leski and emerged victorious, defending her title and securing yet another gold medal. Joanne Van Lieshout of the Netherlands and Hungary's Szofi Ozbas won bronze medals in this category.
